Brief Medical Introduction of the Patient

Nasratullah, a 12-year-old boy from Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan, is the son of M. Hasan. He has been suffering from a severe bone infection (chronic osteomyelitis) in his left thigh, which weakened his femur and led to a pathological fracture.

Despite his young age, Nasratullah has endured painful surgeries, long-term treatment, and months of hospitalization, yet he remains hopeful and determined to walk normally again.

Medical History and Current Condition

• Chronic osteomyelitis of the left femur
• Pathologic fracture of the left femur
• Previous surgeries:
• Osteotomy to remove necrotic and abnormal bone
• Plate fixation of the fractured femur

Currently, Nasratullah requires plate removal and further corrective surgery.

Planned Treatment

Due to limb length discrepancy caused by chronic infection and growth plate damage, Nasratullah will undergo treatment using a Distractable External Fixator (Nasir Awais External Fixator). This device will:

• Gradually lengthen the affected bone
• Correct the limb length difference
• Restore symmetry and balance to the lower limb

Treatment Goals

• Complete control of infection
• Bone reconstruction
• Correction of leg shortening
• Improvement of walking ability and overall limb function

With proper care and follow-up, the prognosis is favorable, though long-term monitoring and careful management of the fixator are essential.
