Case Study of Faizullah.

Case Study of Faizullah.

Brief Medical Introduction of the Patient

Faizullah, son of Mohammad Azim, is a 12-year-old boy from Maidan Wardak Province who sustained a severe ankle injury after falling from stairs. Based on specialized medical evaluations, he has suffered a serious injury to the talus bone, complicated by progressive infection. He urgently requires specialized orthopedic surgery.

According to his treating physicians, any delay in surgery may result in:

  • Worsening infection.
  • Permanent damage to the ankle joint.
  • Long-term walking impairment.
  • And in the worst case, prolonged physical disability.

Injury to the Talus Bone

The talus is a critical bone in the ankle joint responsible for weight-bearing and movement. Due to severe septic arthritis, the talus in Faizullah left ankle has been extensively damaged.

Medical History

Faizullah was previously hospitalized due to severe swelling of his left leg and underwent a fasciotomy procedure.

Later, he returned with severe pain and restricted movement in his left ankle joint.

Joint aspiration was performed, confirming the diagnosis of septic arthritis. The infection has led to complete destruction of the ankle joint and has severely affected his daily life.

Current symptoms include:

  • Severe pain
  • Inability to walk
  • Limited daily activities
  • Persistent fever

Diagnosis and Treatment Plan

Doctors have determined that:

The talus bone is completely damaged
The infection is advanced
Specialized surgical intervention is urgently required

Proposed Surgical Plan:

  1. Talectomy (complete removal of the talus bone)
  2. Calcaneotibial Arthrodesis (fusion of the heel bone to the tibia to create permanent joint stability)

Treatment Goals

  • Eradicate the infection
  • Relieve pain
  • Provide permanent joint stability
  • Restore walking ability
  • Prevent lifelong disability in a growing child

Message from the Family

“We only want our son to run and laugh again like other children…
Please help us.”

Family’s Financial Situation

Faizullah’s mother is the sole caregiver of the family. His father migrated illegally to Iran three years ago in search of work, and since then, there has been no information about his whereabouts.

The family is facing extreme financial hardship:

  • No stable source of income
  • No health insurance
  • No financial savings
  • Unable to afford the costs of surgery, hospitalization, medications, and rehabilitation

Urgent Need

Immediate specialized surgery is a medical emergency. The required financial support includes:

  • Specialized orthopedic surgery
  • Hospital and inpatient care costs
  • Antibiotics and post-operative care
  • Rehabilitation and physiotherapy

We kindly appeal to charitable organizations, healthcare institutions, generous donors, and compassionate individuals to assist in covering the treatment costs.

Any financial contribution can play a crucial role in preventing permanent disability and helping Faizullah return to a normal life.

Thank you for your humanity and support.
